General Overview
Drive systems
For more than 30 years, VISCOTHERM AG has taken separation technology forward through continuous innovation with its ROTODIFF® decanter centrifuge drives. This development is typified by exceptional flexibility of the equipment, adaptation to widely varying operational conditions.

Fundamentals
The typical feature of all VISCOTHERM drive systems is their exceptional adaptability to widely varying operational conditions. The fundamental criteria are variable scroll speed and bowl rotation speed (option). These two parameters are among the most important in the decanter centrifuge technology.

Bowl speed variations of the decanter have decisive bearing on:

  • the separation speed (g-force)
  • the separation efficiency

Differential speed changes of the scroll have decisive bearing on:

  • the direct impact on solids delivery and hence solids throughput
  • solids residence time
  • solids filling level in the bowl

These parameters directly influence the volume of solids which can be separated, the dry content of the solids and hence also the total performance of a decanter centrifuge.

VISCOTHERM designs and builds pump units to match the required Rotodiff®. The pump units are driven by an electric motor, which in turn drives the hydraulic pump.

This is a partial list only; it represents a small selection of some of the Pump Units we make. There are other sizes and variations available. For a complete list, or for a specific inquiry please contact VISCOTHERM. These Pump Units are all analog control. All of the above units are available as digital control (designated by a 'B' instead of a 'C') and as electronically controlled (designated by a 'B/C' instead of a 'C').

In addition we design and manufacture Full Hydraulic Pump Units, where the VISCOTHERM Pump Unit drives both the bowl and the scroll!

Electronics & CVC600

VISCOTHERM designs and builds electronic control units to operate and automate its pump units and Rotodiffs, and thereby simplifying the complete process of separation.

The display unit CDC is used with standard pump units starting with the letter B or C, e.g. C7.5-16Z/HP.
The control unit CVC600 is used with electronically controlled pump units, starting with B/C, e.g. B/C55-140K.

 

CVC600

This electronic instrument is used for the continous monitoring of VISCOTHERM hydraulic scroll drives on centrifuges. With the integrated high-performance microprocessor which insures absolute precise measuring and regulation (digitial signal processing). All important operation parameters can be directly adjusted on the CVC unit.
All operation parameters, measurement values and fault indication are transmitted over the integrated Profibus DP Interface to the main control system. With the universal software regulated valve amplifiers different types of pumps (also with position regulation) can be connected directly without changing any hardware. Plug connector terminals insure a quick and trouble free installation or exchange.
